We want you to have a fun wedding at Sun Valley and one of the main things that contributes to a good time is the alcohol! In this post we will be talking about our rules when it comes to alchol and what we recommend in order to have the best time and get the most out of your bar package!
Our Bar Requirements and Rules
We do NOT allow outside liquor! This means that all the alcohol in your party bus must be left in the bus. If you want any drinks while getting ready or while the bar is closed, then you must purchase them through us. If you'd like a special liquor, beer, or wine, that isn't in one of our bar packages, just ask us. We can special order almost anything!
We do allow shots up until the last hour of bar service. This ensures that guests aren't drinking too much during the last hour before leaving to go home. Safety is our highest priority.
We reserve the right to check the ID of any guest.
Our bartneders have the right to stop serving any guest who is impaired or acting inappropriately.
We require a "Hosted Bar" for our wedding which means the host pays for the bar ahead of time. We do not allow any cash bars.
Tipping
Bartenders work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep your guests refreshed and happy. They often manage high volumes of drink orders, ensure quality service, and handle special requests – all with a smile! Wedding bartenders play a key role in the success of your event, contributing to the overall guest experience. Tipping is a way to show appreciation for their hard work and excellent service.
Do you plan on pre-tipping your bartenders?
Pretipping the bartenders as the host is a great way of insuring that your bartenders are well taken care of. $2 per person is a great tip if you don't mind there being a tip jar out on the bar. At Sun Valley we require $4 per person (if you have 100 guests this would be $400) in order for there to be no tip jars out on the bar.
Bar time
All of our bar packages include 4 hours of bar service. If you're having your ceremony and reception at Sun Valley, you get 6 hours of event time. We recommend the following for a 5pm ceremony:
5:00pm: Ceremony
5:30pm: Bar open for Cocktail Hour
6:30pm: Bar closes for introductions, first dance, speeches
7:30pm: Bar opens back up
10:30pm: Bar closes
11:00pm: Reception concludes
If you would like to add bar time to your package, let us know! Lots of couples choose to add half an hour or a full hour to their bar time. If you add event time to your wedding then adding time to your bar is always a good idea in order to keep the party going!
Why we require an off Duty Police Officer:
Don't worry, you don't have to worry about finding your own officer. We take care of that for you! Our officers help direct parking to make sure all guests find a sufficient spot for their vehicle. When there is alcohol being served, things can get a little crazy. An officer is here for that reason! If you bring any outside liquor on the property, the officer will be here to remove it.
Number of Bartenders
All weddings have different needs and will require a specific amount of bartenders. We take care of determining the amount of bartenders needed for your wedding. Typically, if you have a guest count of 130 or more, you will have 2 bartenders. If you choose to have signature drinks, that is something that we can have servers pass during cocktail hour instead of adding a 2nd or 3rd bartender. Guests love when drinks are passed because it takes away the need for them to hop in line! If you choose to only have beer and wine served then you won't need as many bartenders.
Signature Drinks
Signature cocktails are a great way to add your personality into your big day. Adding a signature drink to your package is an amazing way to add a nice flow to your bar. Sometimes guests feel lost while trying to figure out what to order and signature cocktails give them something to keep going back to! Choosing to add a signature cocktail doesn't have to be expensive. We have lot's of cocktails we can make with everything we already have in your bar package.
